Key Concepts: geography, state Lesson Vocabulary: Abstract: This lesson begins with an introduction to the ways geographers look at places and the questions they ask. Students begin by reviewing the geography of their local community with a chart based on the 2 nd grade geography expectations (including physical/human characteristics, land use, changes in land, etc.) Students are introduced to. Course Summary Students in 5th grade social studies can use the learning and study tools in this online course to prepare for tests and assignments in school. In social studies we are looking at Geography. We will start by taking a pretest on the continents and oceans. Students will need to know the location of the 7 continents and 5 oceans along with how to correctly spell them. We will complete many activities about the globe prior to their test on it, including building our own map in class.

Fifth grade will be the first time students take the Science portion of the Map test. We will begin the year learning observation skills and starting to think like scientists. Next, we will explore a unit on Simple Machine and discuss Newton’s Laws of Motion.
